History

The cooperative, which originated as Onondaga County Patrons Fire Relief Association, was incorporated on March 27, 1883 and began business the same day. The name was subsequently changed to Onondaga Co-operative Insurance Company. Effective January 1, 1990, the company merged with Cortland Co-operative Insurance Company and adopted the title Central Co-operative Insurance Company.

Central Co-operative Insurance Company has been in business for over 120 years. The home office has been located in Baldwinsville for over 30 years and at its current 6 Southgate Rd location since 1983.

Central Co-operative Insurance Company provides property and casualty insurance products to over 7,500 policyholders in Central and Northern New York. Over 75 independent agents represent the company.
